Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS)

Regional Spatial Strategies are part of the Development Plan. These over-arching documents identified planning policy at a regional scale. They also included housing targets for local authority areas.

The new Coalition Government announced their intention to abolish RSSs in May 2010. When abolished, it will be the responsibility of local authorities to identify their own housing targets based on local need.
