Local Authorities are required to ensure that their plans and policies deliver sustainable communities. One such study that assess policy impact is the Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA).
The EqIA focuses in more depth on the social implications of policy. The primary function of the EqIA is to determine the extent of differential impact upon social groups and whether that impact is adverse, positive or neutral.
The EqIA notes potential mitigation measures for identified issues and require monitoring over time to ensure that policy is supporting the delivery of sustainable communities.
